Český Krumlov
Český Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its magnificent architecture. It is a popular place for tourists interested in sightseeing. Worth seeing is the Český Krumlov castle, which got its baroque appearance in the 17th century, as well as the charming corners of the historic streets. In the city there is the Egon Schiele Art Centre with an appealing, interesting exhibition programme. Throughout the year, various festivals are taking place in the city.

Hluboká nad Vltavou
The dominant feature of the town is the well-known neo-Gothic chateau, which acquired its present appearance in the first half of the 19th century, and houses the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery. Also worth mentioning is Ohrada Castle, where the Museum of Forestry, Hunting and Fishing with a zoo is located, or the nearby Bezdrev Pond, which is the second largest pond in Bohemia and offers opportunities for various sports activities.

Zvíkov Castle
Zvíkov is a breathtaking sight at the confluence of the Otava and Vltava rivers. Its present appearance is marked by the Renaissance reconstruction, which produced a brewery that is now one of the microbreweries with the longest tradition. The place is shrouded in several legends and one of them, Zvíkovský rarášek (The Little Devil of Zvíkov), inspired Ladislav Stroupežnický to write a play of the same name, and Vítězslav Novák's opera is also based on this story. You can make your visit to this breathtaking place even more enjoyable by taking a steamboat ride down the Vltava River to the castle.

Velký Kamýk lookout tower
The lookout tower, built in its present form in 1941, offers a view of the Šumava National Park, Blanský les, Novohradské hory, Českomoravská vrchovina, Písecké hory, Česká Sibiř and the surroundings of České Budějovice and Tábor. The lookout tower can be reached from the guesthouse via two hiking trails and from the height of 627 m above sea level you can enjoy a unique view of this picturesque region.

Písek Castle
The castle from the middle of the thirteenth century, founded by Přemysl Otakar II, served economic purposes and mainly as a town hall for most of its existence. The castle burned down in the first half of the 16th century and a large part of the building collapsed in the middle of the 19th century. Only the western wing on the bank of the Otava River has been preserved.

Červená Lhota Chateau
The Renaissance water chateau Červená Lhota was first mentioned as early as the second half of the 15th century. The chateau offers a unique atmosphere in the middle of the castle pond and is only accessible from one side. The chateau is surrounded by a park. A number of films were shot on location, including the famous fairy tale Zlatovláska (Golden Curl) with Jorga Kotrbová.

Kratochvíle Chateau
The appearance of today's Kratochvíle Chateau is based on the original appearance from the 16th century, to which the chateau has been sensitively restored in recent years. Here you will find valuable gems of interior decoration, e.g. the golden reception hall or the relief decoration of the castle chapel Bastions, farm buildings, chapels and the entrance tower have been preserved as part of the building. Vladislav Vančura placed the plot of his novel The End of Old Times here.

Orlík Castle
Originally built on a rocky outcrop above the Vltava River, jutting into the Orlík reservoir, the castle was rebuilt in the 16th century into its current castle form. An important room in the castle is the so-called Teska Hall, named after the author of the carved ceiling Jan Teska.

For lovers of technical science, there is the opportunity to visit one of the two Czech nuclear power plants in nearby Temelín. The iconic four cooling towers provide a distinctive accent in the expansive surrounding landscape. If you are interested in this controversial building, you can arrange a tour and learn more about how it works. Did you know, for example, that the information centre of the Temelín power plant is located in the nearby Renaissance chateau of Vysoký Hrádek?
